Hosni Abd-Rabou ( Arabic حسني عبد ربه, DMG Ḥusnī ʿAbd Rabbihi ; * November 1, 1984 in Ismaïlia ) is a former Egyptian soccer player who last played for Ismaily SC .

Club career

Abd-Rabou began his professional career in Egypt with Ismaily SC and was one of the youngest players in the 2001/02 season when Ismaily won the Egyptian Championship . In 2003 he was with the club in the final of the CAF Champions League , but lost against the Nigerian club FC Enyimba on the aggregate with 1: 2. The following year he reached the final of the Arab Champions League , but again you could not win the final. The Tunisian representative CS Sfaxien prevailed 4-3 on penalties.

In the summer of 2005, Abd-Rabou signed a five-year contract with the French first division club Racing Strasbourg . He made 22 appearances in his first season, but couldn't prevent the club from relegating to Ligue 2 .

In the following season he played on loan again at his home club Ismaily SC. In summer 2008 he announced his move to al-Ahli in the UAE. Further stations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia followed . From 2013 until his retirement in 2018 he played again for his former club Ismaily SC .

National team career

In 2003 he was appointed to the Egyptian U20 team by coach Hassan Shehata to take part in the 2003 Junior World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. After beating the English youth team, Egypt qualified for the round of 16, in which Argentina lost 2-1 with a golden goal after 110 minutes. In the technical report of the tournament, Abd-Rabou was singled out as one of the outstanding players on his team.

In 2006, Abd-Rabou was appointed to the Egyptian senior team to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations in his own country. A week before the start of the tournament, he injured himself and missed his country's tournament triumph. At the African Cup of Nations in 2008, however, he was continental champion with Egypt. He scored four goals over the course of the tournament, including two in the opening game against Cameroon, and was voted the tournament's best player. In 2014 he ended his career in the national team after 99 games and 15 goals.
