Robert de Pinho de Souza , called Robert , (born February 27, 1981 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

The 1.86-meter-tall striker began his career in 1999 with Coritiba FC . Until the 2004/05 season he was under contract with various clubs. In the 2005/06 season he moved to PSV Eindhoven for two million dollars . He struggled to demonstrate his skills in the UEFA Champions League . From 2006 to 2007 he was loaned to the Betis Sevilla club. Robert also scored a goal in the UEFA Europa League against AZ Alkmaar . During the injury of his teammate Ricardo Oliveira , Robert became more famous and ended the season as the top scorer. On August 22, 2007 he signed a contract with the Saudi Arabian club Ittihad FC .

In July 2009 Robert switched to the SE Palmeiras association . A year later, he became the club's main striker. On March 14, 2011, he managed a hat trick by scoring all three goals in the defeat against FC Santos (3: 4). The club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte announced that he was moving to the club. He made his debut at the Brazilian championship. He scored his first goal on July 14 against Athletico Paranaense . The club won the game. After a good six months, on February 17, 2011, he was loaned to the club EC Bahia and should be under contract until the end of the year. In September 2011 he moved to the club Avaí FC , this was at risk of relegation to the second division. However, the club could not hold in the first division and was relegated to the second division. After three league games, the contract was terminated without notice.

National team

He took part with the Brazilian U-20 team in the 2001 World Youth Championship and was involved in all five of the team's games. In the group stage he scored a total of five goals against Germany, Iraq and Canada. In the quarter-finals, the attacker failed with the team against Ghana.
