Ibn Tibbon

Ibn Tibbon (also known as Tibbonids ) is a Jewish family to which several authors and translators from Arabic into Hebrew belonged in the Middle Ages:

  • Jehuda ibn Tibbon (1120–1190), translator (nickname father of translators ), progenitor of the Ibn Tibbon family
  • Samuel ibn Tibbon (1160–1230), author and translator, son of Jehuda ibn Tibbon
  • Moses ibn Tibbon (~ 1200– ~ 1283), translator, son of Samuel ibn Tibbon
  • Jakob ibn Tibbon (1236–1307), author, translator and astronomer, grandson of Samuel ibn Tibbon
