Markus Franz Hiden (born February 4, 1978 in Voitsberg ) is a former Austrian soccer player and current soccer coach . Markus Hiden is neither related to nor by marriage with Martin Hiden , who was also born in Styria.

Club career

The West Styrian began playing football with his home club SV Ligist . He found his way to the BNZ of SK Sturm Graz via USV Mooskirchen and ASK Voitsberg . After a free loan return to Voitsberg and another Leihjahr the then second division side DSV Leoben he came in 1999 in the Bundesliga for SV Ried where he achieved his breakthrough.

In 2001 he switched to SK Rapid Wien , where he became Austrian champion in 2005 . After a cruciate ligament rupture in April 2004, he lost his position in the squad and moved to AEL Limassol in Cyprus for the 2006 summer transfer period . At the end of January 2007, he signed a contract with the Grazer AK . At the beginning of the 2008 season he returned to DSV Leoben. In February 2010 he went to FC Lankowitz where he ended his active career as a player- coach in the summer of 2010.

National team

Markus Hiden completed 5 international matches for the Austrian national soccer team in 2001 and 2002.

Coaching career

In the spring of 2010 he took over the role of player-coach at the Styrian lower division club FC Lankowitz , where he was released in summer 2010 after six months. December 2012 he took over as head coach of the ASK Köflach . He held this job until September 2013 and then went to the women's soccer club SK Sturm Graz / FC Stattegg as a Bundesliga coach .
