Heiner Backhaus (born February 4, 1982 in Witten ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .
Player career
Backhaus made his professional football debut for Hannover 96 when he came on as a substitute for Nebojša Krupniković in the 61st minute of a 1-1 draw against SpVgg Unterhaching on August 12, 2001 . It remained his only game in the second division for the club. About the league rivals 1. FC Union Berlin and AEK Larnaca he came to the league team of Borussia Monchengladbach .
During the 2004/05 season , Backhaus moved as an amateur from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Arminia Bielefeld , where he was also part of the professional squad, but was not used. At the beginning of the second half of 2005/06 the midfielder moved to the second division Kickers Offenbach free of charge .
For the 2007/08 season Backhaus moved to Malta for Valletta FC , where he made a significant contribution to the fact that the team was able to win the first title since 2001 with the Maltese championship. After a season he left the club again and moved to Kitchee SC from Hong Kong . Backhaus returned to Germany for the 2008/09 winter break and joined the regional division FC Sachsen Leipzig . In July 2009 he moved to Olympiacos Nicosia , but left the club again after one season and from now on played for APOP Kinyras Peyias . On January 1, 2011, Backhaus moved to 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . However, after a protracted injury, his contract was terminated in April. From August 2011 to December 2011, Heiner Backhaus was under contract with the NRW league club Westfalia Herne , but only made three appearances. From March 2012 until the summer break 2012 he played for the lower class SV Fortuna Leipzig 02 . Backhaus moved back to Malta in the summer of 2012. This time he joined Rabat Ajax FC . There, however, his contract was terminated at the end of November 2012.
Coaching career
Since the 2014/15 season, Backhaus has been the coach of the newly founded club Inter Leipzig , which started in the Sachsenliga after taking over the team and starting position of SV See . With the Leipzig team, Backhaus made it to the top league in 2015. In 2019 he left the club and took over the coaching position at the regional league team BSV Schwarz-Weiß Rehden . The club played under him the most successful first half of the club's history. At the beginning of 2020 he was signed by the third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach , who were in danger of relegation . While Backhaus was presented to the club as the new coach, Mike Sadlo , who, in contrast to Backhaus, has the necessary football instructor license, was run as head coach, but according to the club, both should “compete as a real team”. Already after three back-round games, in which only one point was won at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and was lost 6-0 at home to the Würzburger Kickers , a game which, according to the club, "permanently disrupted the relationship between team and coach", were Sadlo and Backhaus will be released again on February 12, 2020.
For the season 2020/21 took Backhaus as coach at Southwest Regional division side Rot-Weiss Koblenz , in the preseason had remained winless through the season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic the relegation, however, was suspended.
