Mike Sadlo (born September 19, 1971 in Schleiz ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach . Most recently he was the head coach of SG Sonnenhof Großaspach

Player career

In the winter break of the 1995/96 season he rose from the reserve team to the first team of Carl Zeiss Jena , which was playing in the 2nd Bundesliga at the time. The striker made his professional debut on June 8, 1996 in the 3-1 victory of FCC against VfB Leipzig . From coach Eberhard Vogel , Sadlo was substituted on for Jens-Uwe Penzel in the 82nd minute . After he was not used again, he moved to the Regionalliga Nordost for FC Erzgebirge Aue for the 1996/97 season . With second place behind Energie Cottbus , the Auers missed the opportunity to take part in the promotion relegation for the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1996/97 season.

After three seasons in the FC Erzgebirge Aue jersey, he changed clubs and joined the regional league promoted VfL Halle in 1896 . In the 1999/2000 season he could not qualify with his new club for the restructured regional league. As a result, they had to compete in the Oberliga Nordost in the 2000/01 season . After voluntarily relegating to the association league due to financial difficulties, he left VfL Halle and joined the league competitor VfB Leipzig in the 2001/02 season . He remained loyal to VfB Leipzig until the club was dissolved after the 2003/04 season . He then let his career end at 1. FC Gera 03 and Normania Treffurt.

Coaching career

In the 2003/04 season he acted on the 33rd matchday in the game against VfB Auerbach as player-coach of VfB Leipzig . VfB Leipzig won the game 4-2 and scored three goals. After his active career, he decided to become a coach. Under Joachim Steffens , he was assistant coach at 1. FC Lok Leipzig in the Oberliga Nordost in the 2010/11 season and took over as head coach during the winter break. After the 0-1 defeat against VfB Fortuna Chemnitz on matchday 15, he was dismissed as coach.

For the 2013/14 season he was coach of the upper division SG Union Sandersdorf . The office was held by Sadlo, who also has a football instructor license, until 2018.

On January 3, 2020 Sadlo was introduced as the head coach of the third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach , which is in 18th place in the table . He signed a contract with the village club that was valid until the end of the season. Sadlo, who is in possession of the football teacher license and therefore officially appeared as head coach, formed a coaching team with Heiner Backhaus . Already after three back-round games, in which only one point was won at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and was lost 6-0 at home to the Würzburger Kickers , a game which, according to the club, "permanently disrupted the relationship between team and coach", were Sadlo and Backhaus will be released again on February 12, 2020. In retrospect, Sadlo said that "those responsible had no appreciation" and "always had the impression that he was only there because of the license". Backhaus was supposed to be the actual head coach, Sadlo was needed because of his football teacher license.

Mike Sadlo has been coaching Hallescher FC's U17s since August 2020 , who will be competing in the North / Northeast B-Junior Bundesliga again in the upcoming 2020/21 season .
