Óscar Antonio "Pinino" Mas Magallán (born October 29, 1946 in Villa Ballester ) is a former Argentinian football player.

Career

Club career

Óscar Mas played most of his football career with CA River Plate in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires . From 1964 to 1973 and from 1974 to 1977 he made a total of 382 league games in the Primera División , Argentina's top division in football, and scored 198 goals. He is the second best goalscorer in the history of the club, only Ángel Labruna was even more successful with 293 league goals . With River Plate, where he played with other Argentine football greats of the time such as Ubaldo Fillol , Norberto Alonso or Ermindo Onega , Mas won the Argentine championship twice. In 1975 both the Nacional and the Metropolitano competition were won. Five years earlier, in 1970, Mas, who acted in the position of an attacker, had already become the top scorer of the Primera División in the Metropolitano competition. He succeeded in doing this a second time in 1973. In 1970 he also scored the most goals in the Copa Libertadores , the most important competition for club teams in South America , while River failed in the semifinals at the eventual winner Estudiantes de La Plata . During his entire career, Óscar Mas was never able to win the Copa Libertadores, Rivers first Libertadores title only dates back to 1986, when Mas had just finished his career.

In addition to his involvement with River Plate, Óscar Mas also spent a year in Europe with the Spanish noble club Real Madrid . National team

Óscar Mas was used between 1965 and 1972 in 37 international matches of the Argentine national football team , where he got ten goals.
