Ermindo Onega

Ermindo Angel Onega (born April 30, 1940 - December 21, 1979 ) was an Argentine football player .

The offensive midfielder played for River Plate from 1957 to 1968 . In 222 games he scored 98 goals and won the Copa Libertadores with the club . He later played with Vélez Sársfield and in Uruguay with Peñarol Montevideo .

With the Argentine national team Onega won the 1964 Copa de las Naciones ("Cup of Nations", a tournament organized by the Brazilian Sports Association with Brazil , Portugal and England ) and took part in the 1966 World Cup in England . There he stood on the lawn in all four games ; against Switzerland he scored the goal for the 2-0 final score. Onega played a total of 30 international matches from 1960 to 1967 , in which he scored eleven goals.
