Roberto Alfredo Perfumo (born October 3, 1942 in Sarandí , Gran Buenos Aires , † March 10, 2016 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine football player and coach.
Player career
The center- back Perfumo played for Racing Club Avellaneda from 1962 to 1970 . In 1964 he made his debut in the Argentine national football team and was part of the Argentine squad at the 1966 World Cup in England . Here he reached the quarter-finals and took part in all matches of his team. He was also part of the Argentine selection at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo , but his team failed in the preliminary round. In 1971 he moved to the Brazilian club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte and took part in the 1974 World Cup in Germany . After the World Cup, he went back to Argentina to join River Plate , where he ended his career in 1978.
Coaching career
Perfumo was a coach at the Uruguayan club Sud América in 1982 . He also trained Sarmiento de Junín , Racing and the Paraguayan club Club Olimpia . With Gimnasia he played the Copa Centenario .
death
Perfumo has been a football commentator since 2009. He died on the same day in the Sanatorio Los Arcos as a result of falling down a staircase in a restaurant in the Bonarensian district of Puerto Madero , where he suffered a broken skull and hip.
