Career
He made 557 appearances for Cruzeiro and 228 for Flamengo. Almost 200 of these in the Brazilian championship series . He played his first game for Cruzeiro in 1965 against local rivals Atlético Mineiro . In the game he competed in a yellow sweatshirt, for which he was ridiculed. Due to the victory over Atlético, he remained loyal to the shirt as a lucky charm. In his thirteen years as a goalkeeper at Cruzeiro, he became one of the club's idols. The player took part in two world cup finals. If he was still unable to win the 1976 World Cup with Cruzeiro against Bayern Munich , he succeeded in winning the 1981 title with Flamengo against Liverpool .
With both clubs he won the Copa Libertadores once and the national championship four times. Plassmann is one of the most successful goalkeepers in Brazil.
