The Copa Libertadores 1965 was the 6th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 10 teams took part, including 7 national champions from the previous year and defending champion CA Independiente from Argentina as well as the winner of the cup competition in Brazil, the Taça Brasil , and in Bolivia, since there has not yet been a national championship. Colombia had no representative at the start. The tournament began on January 31st and ended on April 15th, 1965 with the final playoff. The Argentine representative CA Independiente won the final against Peñarol Montevideo, defending his title from the previous year.
