Serso (in the local dialect "Sers") is a fraction of the municipality of Pergine Valsugana in Trentino , at 545 m slm .
history
The municipality of Serso, founded in the 19th century, was merged with Pergine in 1928.
The village
The village rises on a terraced slope on the right bank of the Fersina , above Pergine and about 1.88 km from the main town. There are numerous historical buildings in the village and around 450 residents live there.
Attractions
- St.
George's Church St. George's Church is located in the vineyards between Serso and Viarago . The church, which was probably built well before it was first mentioned (1531), is dedicated to the village patron, Georg, and is surrounded by the town's cemetery. It was the parish church for the surrounding areas.
- Johannes-von-Nepomuk-Kirche
The church consecrated to St. John of Nepomuk in the center of Serso was built in the 18th century and has replaced the Georgskirche as a parish church. - Archaeological site
A little outside of Serso, the remains of a settlement were found on two hills (hence the name sito archeologico dei Montesei di Serso), which was inhabited from around 2,000 BC to the 1st century BC. - The hydropower plant museum in Serso
In Serso there is still a hydropower plant in operation, which was built on the Rio Nero in 1893, one of the four turbines that went into operation in 1924 can be seen in the adjacent power plant museum, where other equipment and photos from the pioneering days are also in operation exhibited are.
