Marcos Roberto Silveira Reis (born August 4, 1973 in Oriente , São Paulo ), better known as Marcos , is a former Brazilian soccer goalkeeper .

Life

Club career

Marcos played for SE Palmeiras from 1992 to 2011 . With the club he was Brazilian champion in 1993 and 1994, and cup winner in 1998. A year later he was with the team coached by Luiz Felipe Scolari in the final of the Copa Libertadores against Deportivo Cali . The game was won on penalties .

After almost 20 years and 530 games for SE Palmeiras, he ended his career before the start of the new season on January 4, 2012.

National team

Marcos was a Brazilian international between 1996 and 2005 . He has guarded the national team's goal 29 times, including at the 1999 Copa America , the 2002 World Cup and the 2005 Confederations Cup . At the 2002 World Cup he was world champion and had to accept only four goals in seven games.
