Ânderson Corrêa Polga (born February 9, 1979 in Santiago , Brazil ) is a Brazilian soccer player . He plays as a defender for Corinthians São Paulo in Brazil.

Career

Polga began his professional football career in 1999 as a defender at Gremio Porto Alegre . In 2003 he moved to Portugal to Sporting Lisbon , where he became one of the club's most important players.

In the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg on March 10, 2009 against FC Bayern Munich (final score 1: 7), Ânderson Polga was the focus of the German media, as he scored an own goal in the 37th minute of the game.

After nine seasons in the service of Sporting, he moved back to Brazil for Esporte Club Sao José at the end of July 2012 on a free transfer . Here he only took part in training for a few months and moved to his planned club, Corinthians São Paulo , at the beginning of September . He won the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup with Corinthians .

Ânderson Polga played 11 games for the Brazilian national team and scored 3 goals for a defender. He took part in the 2002 World Cup, played two games there and became world champion.
