Vladas Douksas , full name Vladas Douksas Klimite , (born March 14, 1933 , † November 22, 2007 ) was a Uruguayan football player and coach.

Career

Player career

"Vlayo" Douksas, a son of Lithuanian immigrants, was used in the positions of a "9" or "10". He played from the age of 17 from 1950 to 1953 at the then second division (Divisional B) Centro Atlético Fénix . Then he was a member of the Rampla Juniors team until 1959 . In 1960 he stood in the ranks of CA Independiente and won the national championship with the Argentines. Up to and including 1961, he completed 33 league games there and scored five goals. He then joined Nacional Montevideo from 1961 to 1965 . With the Bolsos he reached the finals of the Copa Campeones de América in 1964 but was defeated against his former club Independiente. In addition, the Uruguayan capitals decided in 1963 the Uruguayan championship in their favor. In 1967 he played eleven games (one goal) for Colón de Santa Fe .

National team

Douksas made his debut on March 8, 1959 in the Uruguayan senior team . In total, he completed 33 international matches, in which he scored three personal goals. His last international game in the "Celeste" dated June 19, 1966. He belonged to Báez the squad at the South American Championship in December 1959 , which won the continental title.

Coaching

After his active career, Douksas started a coaching career. He was a coach at Fénix, Huracán Buceo and Uruguay Montevideo FC , but could not boast any major successes.
