Mario Omar Méndez (also known as Mario Pedro Mendez ) (born May 11, 1938 ) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach.

Player career

society

Defensive player Méndez played for Sud América in 1959 . He belonged to the squad of the Montevidean club Nacional in the Primera División at least in 1961, 1962 and 1964 . In 1964 he took part in the finals of the Copa Campeones de América , in which Nacional had to hand over the trophy to the Argentinian representative Independiente . From 1967 to 1969 a Mario Méndez played for Peñarol . In 1970 Tiquire Aragua signed him from Venezuela . Subsequently, a career station at Estudiantes de Mérida is listed without a precise chronological order .

National team

Méndez was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 22 international matches between December 7, 1959 and June 12, 1968. He scored an international goal. With the Celeste he took part in the second game of the South American Championship in Ecuador in December of that year in 1959 , in which he contributed to the Uruguayans' title win in four matches. He also participated in the 1962 World Cup on the Uruguayan side. There he was used in all three group matches .

Coaching

Méndez worked after his active career as a coach and looked after the club Unión Deportiva Valera (UD Valera) in Venezuela in 1980 , which at the time played in the Segunda División of the country, and Estudiantes de Mérida .
