Asociación Civil Minervén Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football club from Ciudad Guayana . The club was founded in 1985 and plays its home games at the Estadio Polideportivo Cachamay , which can seat 41,600 spectators. AC Minervén FC, once a Venezuelan football champion, currently plays in the Tercera División, the fourth-highest division in Venezuela .

AC Minervén FC was founded on January 15, 1985 as Club Minervén in Ciudad Guayana. The club only needed a short time to establish itself in professional football in Venezuela and was second in the table in 1992 just seven years after the club was founded. In 1992/93 and 1994/95 they were runner-up two more times. In the 1995/96 season, AC Minervén FC won its first and to date only Venezuelan football championship. The club was unable to win another title. After a few years in midfield of the Primera División , they rose in 2005 to the Segunda División. In 2007, the club changed its name and from then on called itself Asociación Civil Minervén Bolívar Fútbol Club , which was changed a little later. Today the club is officially called Asociación Civil Minervén Fútbol Club . The club currently plays in the fourth Venezuelan league, the Tercera División, after being relegated from Segunda División B in the past season (2009/10).
AC Minervén FC also enjoyed success on a continental scale in the 1990s. Above all, reaching the quarter-finals in the Copa Libertadores 1994 should be mentioned. In the group stage, the club was third behind Club Bolívar and The Strongest La Paz , both from Bolivia , and in front of league competitor Marítimo Caracas and reached the second round by this third place. There you met the Ecuadorian representative Emelec Guayaquil . Minervén won the first leg 2-0 in Guayaquil , but suffered a 3-1 defeat in the second leg. Minervén won the penalty shoot-out and made it to the quarter-finals. There, too, they caused a sensation when they reached a goalless draw in the first leg against the Argentine representative CA Vélez Sársfield . However, the second leg in Venezuela was lost 2-0 and AC Minervén FC was eliminated from the eventual victory in Buenos Aires . AC Minervén FC took part in the Copa Libertadores three more times and always reached the round of 16. At the Copa Libertadores 1993 you failed to Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , 1996 to América de Cali and 1997 to Club Bolívar.
