The 1957 season of the Primera División was the 54th season (the 26th of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted of ten clubs in the championship season of 1957, whose teams met twice in a total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. The championship won Nacional Montevideo as first in the table in front of Club Atlético Peñarol and Club Atlético Defensor as second and third in the season's final table . As bottom of the table, Racing Club de Montevideo rose from the Primera División to the Segunda División . The top scorer was Walter Hernández with 16 goals .
