The 1953 season of the Primera División was the 50th season (the 22nd of the professional era) of the highest Uruguayan division in men's football , the Primera División .

Club Atlético Peñarol won the championship as first in the table ahead of Nacional Montevideo and the Rampla Juniors as second and third in the season final table .
