Terence Kongolo (born February 14, 1994 in Freiburg im Üechtland , Switzerland ) is a Dutch football player who is primarily used in the position of central defender and has been under contract with Huddersfield Town since January 2018 . It is currently on loan to Fulham FC .

Career

In the club

Feyenoord Rotterdam

Kongolo made his professional debut at Feyenoord Rotterdam . In 2016 he was the Dutch cup winner , in 2017 Dutch champion .

Via Monaco to Huddersfield

For the 2017/18 season Kongolo moved to the French Ligue 1 for AS Monaco . After only making three league appearances, he moved to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on January 2, 2018, initially on loan until the end of the season . Under the coach David Wagner he was used in 13 league games and achieved relegation with the promoted team. For the 2018/19 season , Huddersfield Town finally acquired the transfer rights to Kongolo for a record-breaking fee within the club and provided him with a contract that runs until June 30, 2022.

In the national team

On May 17, 2014, he made his debut for the Dutch senior team in a friendly against Ecuador . His first appearance in a competitive game for the Netherlands was on June 23, 2014 in the game against Chile at the 2014 World Cup , in which he came on in the 89th minute.
