R-105
The R-105 is a backpack radio developed in the Soviet Union that was produced in large numbers from 1957. In addition to the Soviet Army , numerous other armed forces, but also paramilitary and civil organizations, used this radio device. It was replaced by the R-107 radio . The structure and controls correspond to the R-108 and R-109 radios ; the R-105 differs from these mainly in terms of the frequency range .
The R-105 is used to transmit voice information. It works in very high frequency range and uses a modulation , the frequency modulation . The device may be continuous in the frequency range from 36 to 46.1 MHz tuned to. In addition to being used as a terminal device, it can also be used as a relay station.
The further development R-105M differs from the original version R-105D by a changed arrangement of the control elements and, above all, by reduced dimensions and weight, but the achievable range also decreased. The radio can be used in motion, carried by a person, stationary or in vehicles scaffolded. The device can be remotely controlled with appropriate headsets or field telephones such as the TA-57 .
The R-105 and R-105M were used in many command vehicles and radio sets. With the export of these vehicles, the radio also found its way into numerous other armed forces. In addition, paramilitary organizations such as the Society for Sport and Technology of the GDR or the Soviet DOSAAF used the radio for pre-military training. The devices used by GST were also able to carry out radio operations in telegraphy mode (with Morse code ).

The power is supplied by nickel-cadmium batteries with a nominal voltage of 4.8 volts. The battery types 2NKN-24 (2НКН-24) or 2NKN-32 (2КН-32) are used. There are two battery sets for each device. With a ratio between transmit and receive mode of 3: 1, the maximum operating time is between 12 and 17.5 hours, depending on the type of battery used. With the R-105M, one N-14 (Н-14) battery or two 2NKP20 (2НКП-20) or 2NKP-24 (2НКП-24) batteries were used with the same nominal voltage. This extended the operating time to 12 to 21 hours.
The UM-2 (УМ-2) power amplifier can be connected to the R-105M to increase the range. Built in the same housing as the R-105M, it has a transmission power of 10 watts.
