R-107

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The R-107 is an in the former Soviet Union developed backpack radio , which was produced in large numbers. In addition to the Soviet Army , numerous other armed forces, but also paramilitary and civil organizations, used this radio device. The R-107 replaced the types R-105 , R-108 and R-109 . Compared to these, it is characterized by a larger frequency range and tuning in the channel grid. In contrast to the original type R-107, the further development R-107M was built entirely with semiconductors .

The R-107 is used to transmit voice information. It works in very high frequency range and uses a modulation , the frequency modulation . The frequency range from 20 to 52 MHz is divided into two bands from 20 to 36 MHz and 36 to 52 MHz. The entire frequency range is divided into 1231 channels with a spacing of 25 kHz, four frequencies can be preset. The frequency range thus combines the ranges of the predecessor types R-105, R-108 and R-109, which made it easier to set up radio networks, and coordination in the channel grid simplified operation. In addition to being used as a terminal device, it can also be used as a relay station.

In the further development of the R-107T, which was based on the R-107, the transmission or reception frequency is displayed digitally.

The further development of the R-107M differs from the original R-107 version in that it is completely constructed with semiconductors and therefore has reduced weight. The radio can be used in motion, carried by a person, stationary or in vehicles scaffolded. The device can be remotely controlled with appropriate headsets or field telephones such as the TA-57 . Telegraph operation is also possible with the R-107M ; a Morse code key can be attached to the housing for this purpose.

The R-107 and R-107M were used in many command vehicles and radio sets. With the export of these vehicles, the radio also found its way into numerous other armed forces. In addition, paramilitary organizations such as the Society for Sport and Technology of the GDR or the Soviet DOSAAF used the radio for pre-military training.

With the R-107 and R-107T, two sets of nickel-cadmium batteries 2KNP20 (2КНП-20) and four KN-14 (КН-14) with a nominal voltage of 4.8 volts are used. With the R-107, the maximum operating time is 12 hours, whereby the device can work 5% of the time in transmission mode.

The R-107M uses three sets of nickel-cadmium batteries 2KNP20 (2КНП-20) or 2NKP-24 (2НКП-24) with a nominal voltage of 6.6–7.8 volts.
