Gianluca Korte (born August 29, 1990 in Speyer ) is a German football player of Italian descent who played for Eintracht Braunschweig from 2011 to 2015 and for SV Waldhof Mannheim from 2016 to 2020 . Korte is currently under contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden .

Career

In his youth, Korte played for Phönix Schifferstadt. He had his first assignments in the adult sector at TuS Mechtersheim . In 2011 he moved to the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig together with his twin brother Raffael . Here he had his first appearance in professional football on the 4th matchday in the away game against Karlsruher SC (3: 1) when he was surprisingly in the starting line-up. At the end of the 2012/13 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with Braunschweig . He then extended his contract prematurely by two years until June 30, 2015. He made his first division debut in the 2-0 defeat at Bayern Munich , where he came on in the 59th minute. At the training camp in Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain, Korte tore a cruciate ligament in January 2014 and was out for the rest of the 2013/14 Bundesliga season .

After Eintracht's relegation to the second division, Korte could not prevail. In January 2015, he was loaned out to league competitor VfR Aalen for six months . At the same time, he extended his contract in Braunschweig until June 30, 2016.

After the loan from VfR Aalen, Eintracht Braunschweig and Gianluca Korte agreed to terminate the contract. In January 2016 he signed a contract with SV Waldhof Mannheim . The contract, which initially ran until the end of the 2017 season, was extended and is currently valid until June 30, 2020. On April 20, 2019, Korte celebrated promotion to the 3rd division with the Waldhöfern and thus returned to professional football. For the 2020/21 season, Korte moved to SV Wehen Wiesbaden . He received a two-year contract until mid-2022.
