Departments

Fistball

Fistball has been played on TV Voerde since its inception, and the first teams took part in the championship fights in what was then the Rhein-Lippe-Gau. With the beginning of the Second World War , however, the sporting business came to a standstill. It was not until 1966 that the fistball department was re-established. In 1972, a women's and a men's team were formed, which were then followed by a female youth team and a student team. In 1974 the Voerder teams took part in championship games and tournaments for the first time. In 1976 the female youth team became German indoor champions and the student team became German runners-up in the same season. Following promotion to the field Bundesliga in 1979, the women's team took second place and came seventh in the German championship. 1982, however, followed the temporary relegation from the Bundesliga.

Since 1992 the women have been playing in the field Bundesliga again and were German champions in 2000, 2001 and 2006. The women have been even more successful in the indoor Bundesliga since their promotion in 1995. They became German indoor champions in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2005. Afterwards even the European Cup was won in the hall in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2008 as well as on the field in 2000 and 2004. The greatest success in the club and department history, however, was the 2001 World Cup against the Brazilian team Sogipa Porto Alegre.

In the summer of 2004, a second women's team started for the first time in the second division and attracted attention with a march to first place in the final table. However, the team had to forego the promotion games, as only one team per club is allowed to play in the first division.

In 1989 and 1990, the women's team for over 30-year-olds became German champions twice in a row. In the 2003/04 indoor season, former Bundesliga players formed a women AK-30 who immediately became German champions and repeated this in 2005 and 2006. In 1997, a men's AK-30 team took part in a German championship for the first time and in 1998 came fourth in the German indoor championship.

When she won the European championship in 1996, Nicole Struif and when she won the fistball world championship in 1998 and 2006 and the European championship in 2005, Petra Schmitthuysen each featured a TV Voerde player in the German women's national team .

In 1991, 1993 and 2002 Voerde hosted the German youth championships. In March 2006, the department hosted the German women's indoor fistball championships.

In total, by the end of 2006, TV Voerde had 18 German championship titles, 16 German runner-up championships, seven European Cup victories and one World Cup victory.

The fact that youth development is a top priority in the Voerder fistball department also shows the existence of mini-teams since the mid-1980s. Here girls and boys up to the age of 12 play together in a team. Since it was founded, Voerder Minis have won 14 Rhenish championships, which award the highest title for mini-teams. Former mini-players now form the backbone of many adult teams.

basketball

In 1995 the department was founded. In the first few years there was little success. In 1998 the Minis won the first cup title, followed by further cup victories for men 1 in 2002 and 2003, men 2 in 2006 and the male U16 in 2004. The open U14 won the district championship in 2002 and 2007. The men succeeded in advancing to the top division in the 2008/09 season, from which they were immediately relegated. After the last team, a U16 boy, was withdrawn from playing in the youth league during the 2015/16 season, the department was dissolved in 2017.

Soccer

The football department of TV Voerde has little sporting success to show. In earlier decades, the first men's team mostly fluctuated between district and district level. The club played for the last time in 1990/91 in the district league Niederrhein, then they said goodbye to the lower districts of the district league A. 20 years later, in the 2010/11 season, the first team managed to return to the district league after several playoffs. As Kreisliga A leader they were level on points with Viktoria Wehofen and so a playoff had to clarify the championship question, which TV Voerde lost 3: 4 on penalties in front of 2,000 spectators. Now as second in the table, a relegation game against TuSpo Saarn followed , which Voerder won 1-0 in front of 1000 visitors after extra time and secured promotion. In 2018, the A-youth of TV Voerde made it to the A-Juniors Lower Rhine League. In the qualification group they were able to prevail against both VfL Rhede (3: 0) and SV Straelen (2: 0). The SV Union Velbert also gave away the last game and thus made the promotion perfect.

athletics

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Heike Schulte-Mattler, an athlete of the club, won a bronze medal with the 4 x 400 meter relay. Two years earlier, she had won the German championship in the 200-meter run.

Triathlon

The triathlon department under the name Triminators has been organizing the Voerder Triathlon since 2005 . The most famous starter of the Triminators is Mareen Hufe .

volleyball

The volleyball department of TV Voerde comprises two men’s and women’s teams in league games and teams in hobby sports.
