Nemesis - The attack (Original title: Threshold ) is an American science fiction - and drama - television series , which was produced by Brannon Braga for the US television network CBS . The series aired from September 2005 , the production was already after 13 episodes, of which CBS aired only nine. The plot revolves around a secret government project that investigates first contact with aliens . The scenario is partly reminiscent of the movie Sphere - The Power from Space .

The series was initially broadcast on Friday evening and later postponed to Tuesday because it was hoped for higher ratings . The postponement failed and the ratings for the first Tuesday broadcast (November 22, 2005) fell even further. CBS then stopped the series on November 23, 2005. The remaining episodes were first broadcast by the British broadcaster Sky One .

The German-language first broadcast of the series took place from March 3 to June 10, 2008 on Mondays in the evening program of ProSieben .

On September 16, 2005, an alien probe appeared in front of a freighter and emitted a high-frequency signal. Much of the crew died as a result. The survivors change and become stronger and more resilient. They are driven by the impulse to infect other people by first using the alien signal, later also with the help of manipulated food. To stop this threat, the Threshold organization, led by Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey launched. With the help of various specialists, she tries to stop the invasion.
