André Bormanis (born February 13, 1959 in Chicago ) is an American television producer , screenwriter and author of the 1998 book Star Trek: Science Logs , which was best known for his work on the Star Trek series. In Star Trek: The Next Generation , Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise , he worked as a research consultant for several episodes of Voyager and Enterprise , he also wrote the screenplay.

He was also involved as a writer on the short-lived science fiction series Nemesis - The Attack and worked as a producer and writer on the mystery and crime series Eleventh Hour - Last Second . Both series were produced by CBS .

Bormanis grew up in Arizona and took an early interest in astronomy . He first completed a degree in physics and mathematics at the University of Arizona , which he graduated in 1981 with a bachelor's degree. He then studied at George Washington University , where he obtained his master's degree in 1994. He is a member of the Planetary Society .
