Brannon Braga (born August 14, 1965 in Bozeman , Montana ) is an American screenwriter , director and film producer .

Star Trek

Braga, a graduate of Kent State University in Santa Cruz County , initially produced music videos before starting to work on Starship Enterprise - The Next Century as a story editor from 1992, at the beginning of season five .

He quickly developed into a sought-after writer and producer of the series, who also wrote the scripts for many episodes of Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager .

Along with Ronald D. Moore and Rick Berman wrote Braga also the screenplays for the Star Trek - movies Generations (1994) and First Contact (1996).

In 2001, Braga was co-creator and executive producer with Rick Berman of the fifth Star Trek series Enterprise . This series was his last activity for Star Trek.

Other film projects

In addition to his Star Trek roles , Brannon Braga co-wrote the action film Mission: Impossible II (2000), starring Tom Cruise . He also wrote for the science fiction series Nemesis - The Attack, which was produced from 2005 to 2006 .

In 2008 he joined the television series 24 as co-executive producer of the film 24: Redemption and continued this role in the seventh season of the series in 2009. From 2009 to 2010 Braga co-produced the television series FlashForward with David S. Goyer . Together with Seth MacFarlane , Mitchell Cannold and Ann Druyan he produced the documentary series Our Cosmos: The Journey Continues, which was broadcast in 2014 . He was also involved in the development of the Salem series, which aired from 2014 to 2017.

In 2017 he directed the new SF series The Orville , which has great parallels to the Star Trek series such as TNG, DS9 and Voyager, as well as many other Star Trek veterans have already directed there.

Trivia

Braga, who was briefly in a relationship with Jeri Ryan in 2000 , now lives in Canton , in the US state of Ohio .

In the movie Star Trek: The First Contact , Braga made the eponymous first contact with the Vulcans in his hometown of Bozeman in the US state of Montana .
