David S. Goyer (2008)

David Samuel Goyer (* 22. December 1965 in Ann Arbor , Michigan ) is an American comic book - and screenwriter and film director . He is particularly known for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy , for which he worked on the plot of the films together with the Nolan brothers.

Life

David S. Goyer has been interested in comics since childhood. He grew up in Ann Arbor , Michigan and graduated from the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1988 . His first major success was in 1990 the script for the film With a Steel Fist with Jean-Claude Van Damme . In addition to his work as a screenwriter, Goyer was also active as a writer of comics; for example, he wrote 50 issues of the Justice Society of America for DC Comics . Goyer v. a. for comic book adaptations, which, as in the case of Blade: Trinity , also directed. He was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1999 for Dark City and 2006 for Batman Begins , and won an Australian Film Critics Award in 1999 for his screenplay for Dark City . Goyer wrote the screenplay for Godzilla - remake , his version was later rewritten by Max Borenstein. Goyer led the American-British historical series Da Vinci's Demons as a showrunner in 2013 and 2014 . In 2015 he handed over the reins to John Shiban and continued to work as a producer for the series. In 2013 he worked as an executive producer on the film adaptation of the comic strip Y: The Last Man .
