action

As a young woman, Casey, a student, is haunted by frightening dreams and visions. When she is alerted of changes in her eye color , a doctor tells her that the change has occurred in some twins. After her father admits that she had a twin brother, who died in the womb before birth, she begins to investigate.

After a while, she meets her grandmother, who initially does not reveal herself, but later helps her to understand these visions. The grandmother tells Casey about experiments with twin siblings at Auschwitz . At that time a dibbuk seized her brother, who has been looking for human bodies since then in order to enter the human dimension through mirrors and ideally prefers Casey's body. At that time, however, she does not yet know why and how.

Casey frees himself from this demon after some time through an exorcistic ritual that demands many sacrifices - including the life of her friend.

In the final scene, she realizes that she was pregnant the whole time and that the demon wanted to be born over her.

Reviews

Christina Krisch wrote on March 12, 2009 in the Kronen-Zeitung that the film only consists of clichés and that there is no solid plot or even exciting moments completely. For male viewers it might be nice to see the main actress jumping through the picture in every predictable creepy scene in underwear, but this hardly gives goose bumps.

"Formally respectable variation of the" Exorcist "subject, but in terms of content it is nothing more than a simple obsession slaughter with crude subplots. A more intensive study of Jewish religious mysticism would have done the cliché-laden plot good. "

Copyright lawsuit

In January 2012, Platinum Dunes , Rogue Pictures and Relativity Media were sued in Los Angeles Superior Court. A descendant of Erna Segal claimed that her book "Transfers" from 1990, which she had published under the pseudonym Erna Olinger, was being misused for the implementation of the script without permission. The grandson wanted to sell the rights to the book to Pat Dollard in 2005 , but these negotiations failed.
