Aristarchus of Thessalonice
Aristarchus of Thessalonice is considered one of the Seventy disciples and is mentioned several times in the Acts of the Apostles . He came from Thessalonice, today's Thessaloniki , and accompanied Paul on his third missionary trip . In Col 4,10 EU Paul calls him his fellow prisoner. It is possible that he later accompanied Paul to Rome. According to one tradition, Paul installed him as bishop in Thessalonice, another tradition sees him as bishop of Apamea on the Orontes ; There is no reliable evidence for either, nor for the presumed beheading under Emperor Nero .
Aristarchus is venerated as a saint ; his feast day is August 4th .
