Drosera caduca is a carnivorous plant from the sundew family(Droseraceae). It occurs exclusively in Northern Australia.

description

In Drosera caduca is a perennial herbaceous plant , forms the individual down-rosettes. The leaves are upright to half upright, the petioles are inverted lanceolate, 15 to 30 millimeters long, at the base 0.5 to 1, at the widest point 3 to 6 millimeters wide, at the base of the blade tapering to 1.5 to 2, glabrous on top and slightly hairy on bottom. The circular leaf blades are around 3 to 4 millimeters long and just as many millimeters wide, slightly covered with glands on the upper side and decorated with tentacles on the edge and bare on the underside. With age, the leaf blades dry up, tentacles are not formed.

The one or two inflorescence axes are 30 to 45 centimeters long and carry 25 to 45 flowers in a cluster , the flower stalks are 3 to 4 millimeters long. The sepals are elliptical, largely bald, around 3 millimeters long and around 1.3 millimeters wide. The petals are white, oblong and round and around 6.5 millimeters long and around 3.6 millimeters wide.

The stamens are around 3 millimeters long. The ovary is the reverse-ovoid and 1 millimeter long. The three styluses , including the scars, are 1.5 millimeters long.

distribution

The homeland of Drosera caduca is tropical Northern Australia ( Queensland , Northern Territory , Western Australia ).

Systematics

The species was first described in 1996 by Allen Lowrie , it belongs to the so-called "Petiolaris complex", which forms the Lasiocephala section of the genus.
