А107 in the section Volokolamsk avenue - Novorishskoye avenue, crossing the Istra |
The A 107 is a Russian trunk road that forms a ring around the capital Moscow . It runs for around 320 kilometers through Moscow Oblast .
The street is known as the Moscow Small Ring ( Russian Московское малое кольцо (ММК) / Moskowskoje maloje kolzo (MMK)) - the Moscow Big Ring is the A 108 . The ring runs about 30 kilometers outside the MKAD . Since large sections of the road have concrete pavement , the road is also known as the first concrete ring (Russian Первое бетонное кольцо / Perwoje betonnoje kolzo) or Betonka for short .
Created for strategic reasons in the times of the Soviet Union , the ring was initially "secret": until around 1993, like the Great Ring, it was not completely shown on road maps, but could also be used by private vehicles.
