action

Debi Walden has been a keen rider since she was a youngster, but she had to give up her participation in jumping competitions for financial reasons. When the riding instructor Jonathan discovered Debi's talent, he offered to encourage her if she could find a suitable horse. At a horse auction, Debi discovers a horse that is already intended for the butcher and decides to buy it. Debi asks her parents for support, but her father refuses because he wants her to go to college . Due to a concession from the seller, Debi can finally buy the horse and starts training. At the same time, she takes on a job as a rider at Bonnie Brae's stud so that she can pay for her riding lessons.

Jonathan can convince Bonnie to sponsor Debi as a show jumper and she can win numerous competitions. After a few tournaments, however, her horse Evangelist is exhausted and Debi is advised to buy a second horse in order to change horses at the competitions. With the support of other sponsors, the millionaire Kenneth Roubidoux and his wife Lauren, she can buy another horse, a touch of class , and she wins more tournaments.

Their sponsors believe the horses could also do well in the Olympics , but only with a male rider. At the same time, the sponsor, Mr. Valentine Debi, offers to change to his team, which she accepts. During a demonstration in front of a school class, there is a riding accident in which Debi falls from his horse and falls into a coma . She wakes up after ten days, but has to go through many months of rehab before she can start exercising again. A medical examination finally reveals that she suffers from epilepsy and the doctors advise her against show jumping.

Debi nevertheless decides to take part in an important show jumping tournament in which she competes and wins against her archenemy, the rich Elysse Dumar, among others. Her father is also present at this tournament, who now accepts his daughter's path.

At the end of the film there is a 25 year time jump. Debi's horse Evangelist is seriously ill and has to be put to sleep. She says goodbye to him and accompanies him on his last journey.
