Clarence Williams III

Clarence Williams III (born August 29, 1939 in New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

Williams is the son of the musician Clay Williams and the grandson of the jazz and blues composer and pianist Clarence Williams and his wife, the singer Eva Taylor . He grew up with his maternal grandmother.

After two years in the United States Air Force , he began acting on Broadway . The role of the undercover cop Linc Hayes in The Mod Squad gave him his breakthrough. He played alongside stars like Ann-Margret , Roy Scheider , Wesley Snipes , Eddie Murphy , Laurence Fishburne and Tim Roth .

Private life

Between 1967 and 1984 he was married to the actress Gloria Foster . The marriage ended in divorce.
