Barbara Abend (* 1940 (?) In Luckau ) is a German dramaturge , author and director .
Life
Barbara Abend was born in Luckau , where she graduated from secondary school in 1958. She actually wanted to become a graphic designer, but then began studying theater studies at the Leipzig Theater Academy . After graduating, she got her first engagement as a dramaturge at the theater in Altenburg. A few years later she moved to the German National Theater in Weimar as the artistic assistant to the drama director . Here she was also responsible for the design of the programs. She also worked here as an acting lecturer and got her first directorial assignments. After this engagement , she became deputy theater director at the Erfurt Municipal Theaters until she moved to the Theater im Palast in Berlin in 1981 . She wrote children's radio plays for radio in the GDR .
Barbara Abend became the co-founder and artistic director of the Theater im Palais in Berlin in 1991 , where she worked on many versions of the plays that were performed and, as with many other productions, she also directed. She also worked as a director at theaters in Schwerin, Bremen, Detmold and Helsinki.
