Theater in the Palais

The Theater im Palais is a literary chamber theater in Berlin between the German Historical Museum and the Humboldt University .

history

The historic Palais am Festungsgraben has been the theater's venue since it was founded on March 22, 1991 . Founding members were u. a. today's artistic director Barbara Abend and Siegfried Wein , as well as the actors Gabriele Streichhahn , Carl Martin Spengler and Jens-Uwe Bogadtke . The first director was Siegfried Wein - he was followed by Gabriele Streichhahn in November 1999.

The Theater im Palais has received concept funding from the Berlin Senate since 1998.

By the end of 2014, the repertoire theater had put 141 own productions on the 5 × 6 meter stage; by December 2014 around 337,600 visitors were counted.

Artistic profile

The theater sees itself as a traditional theater in which authors are the main focus. It also deals with Berlin's cultural, literary and urban history.

Since 2006 it has also offered young people a platform to act and engage with theater. For this purpose the youth theater "JUST" was founded.
