Brett Garsed (born April 20, 1963 in Victoria , Australia ) is an Australian fusion guitarist .

biography

Garsed started playing guitar at the age of 12. After about five years he started taking classical guitar lessons in order to improve his fingerpicking technique.

In 1986 he recorded the album Whispering Jack with John Farnham , which became Australia's best-selling album. By 2006 over 1.68 million copies had been sold. It achieved platinum status 24 times. This was followed by sold-out concert tours through Australia and Europe.

From 1989 he played in the rock band Nelson . The 1991 debut album After the Rain was also a hit, selling over 3 million copies.

During his career he played with the following musicians, among others: TJ Helmerich , Derek Sherinian , Bobby Rock , Gary Willis and Dennis Chambers .

Style and Influences

His early major influences included Ritchie Blackmore , Jeff Beck , Jimmy Page , David Gilmour and Jimi Hendrix . Later, Leo Kottke , Rory Gallagher , Allan Holdsworth and Edward Van Halen were also among his influences.
