Ingrid Tomkowiak

Ingrid Tomkowiak (born June 19, 1956 in Helmstedt ) is a German and Swiss literary and cultural scientist . She teaches and researches at the University of Zurich .

education and profession

Ingrid Tomkowiak studied German and English from 1976 to 1979 at the University of Freiburg , then at the University of Stirling and until 1982 German and English at the University of Göttingen . In 1982 she passed the first state examination and after further studies in folklore, German and English at the University of Göttingen , she received her doctorate in 1987 at the University of Hamburg . In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the University of Zurich .

From 2003 to April 2012 Tomkowiak was Scientific Director of the Popular Literatures and Media Department at the Institute for Popular Cultures at the University of Zurich . Since 2009 she has been head of research at the Swiss Institute for Children and Youth Media SIKJM, an associated institute of the University of Zurich . Since February 2012 Tomkowiak has also been Professor of Popular Literatures and Media with a focus on children's and youth media at what is now the Institute for Social Anthropology and Empirical Cultural Studies (ISEK - Popular Cultures) at the University of Zurich. Tomkowiak is editor of the series "Popular Literatures and Media" (Chronos, Zurich) and co-editor of the magazine kids + media.
