Herbert Albert Kersten (born February 13, 1918 in Vienna ; † September 1996 ibid) was an Austrian actor on stage, film and television.

Live and act

Kersten had received his artistic training from the Burgtheater actor Wilhelm Schmidt and made his stage debut at the beginning of the 1940s in the then German-occupied Brno . This was followed by engagements at provincial theaters in Steyr and Liegnitz until 1943 and at several theaters in his hometown Vienna after the war. Herbert Kersten also made several guest tours.

It was not until the mid-1950s that the Viennese began to appear regularly in front of the camera. The man with the distinctive facial features played supporting roles in an abundance of Austrian and German film and television productions. Kersten embodied doctors several times, but also judges, officers and lawyers. At the beginning of the 1980s, Herbert Kersten's activities in front of the camera ended and he concentrated entirely on his stage work (e.g. at the Theater in der Josefstadt ).
