Mord im Grand-Hotel is an Austrian television crime thriller by and with Fritz Eckhardt from 1979, directed by Georg Lhotsky . It was created as the 105th episode of the crime series Tatort and was the ninth crime scene case for Marek. This time Marek is dealing with the murder of an industrialist and an identical murder of a truck driver.

action

Guests on a state visit are quartered in the Vienna Grand Hotel, and Marek and a few colleagues are also accommodated there to protect them. That same evening, the hotel staff called Marek to the swimming pool, next to which the body of a man who was not listed among the hotel guests was found. The investigation reveals that the man was not killed at the site, Marek pulls the case. Meanwhile, Wirz interrogates the gangster Robert Radek, who had lost his wallet and who belongs to a pimp ring in Vorarlberg. The lawyer Dr. Berghof seeks out Marek and informs him about the identity of the deceased from the Grand Hotel, it is about the Graz industrialist Thomas Kandrisch, who was on his way to Hamburg. Shortly afterwards, another male corpse is discovered in the trunk of an old car in a junkyard. Marek seeks director Fellner, the dead man's partner, who is the brother-in-law and client of Dr. Berghof. Fellner claims to have seen Kandrisch on the afternoon of the day of the murder, at the time of the crime he was allegedly with his wife, Dr. Berghof was at a banquet, but at the time of the crime the banquet was already over. Renate Fellner, the sister of Dr. Berghof, adds, when Marek informs her about the murder of Kandrisch, she faints.

Shortly thereafter, Marek learns that the second dead man had a bullet wound identical to that of Kandrisch and was probably shot with the same weapon. He had no papers with him. On the dead man, Marek and Wirz find matches from the Hotel Winkler, Winkler can confirm that the dead person lived with him, the gangster Radek also lives in the same hotel. It turns out that the dead man was an acquaintance of Radek, who indicates that it is the truck driver Franz Lechner, who often brought goods for him from the Balkans. Winkler claims that he also knew Kandrisch, who always took a room for only during the day to meet the chambermaid Senta, with whom he had started a relationship. Senta claims to have gladly married Kandrisch if he would have been ready to divorce his wife. This time Marek seeks Mrs. Fellner alone, she confirms her husband's alibi for the night of the murder, the afternoon before the murder she was with a friend. Marek goes with her to her husband and brother, he tells the three of them on the head that he doesn't believe the story with Senta and that the three bribed Senta to tell the officials the story of their alleged relationship with Kandrisch. Kandrisch's much older widow Lisa visits Fellner at that moment and uses this opportunity to tell Marek that she offered a high reward for catching her husband's murderer. She accuses Berghof and the Fellners of having tricked her husband. Fellner embezzled two million schillings and Kandrisch found out that she could prove this with documents. Ms. Kandrisch also knows that Renate Fellner had a relationship with Kandrisch for over a year, which she admits.

Lisa Kandrisch found out about it and was in control of her husband, which is why he separated from Renate Fellner. Lisa Kandrisch sees this as a motif for Renate. Marek realizes that everyone in the room had a motive for murder and says goodbye. Meanwhile, a prostitute reported to Berntner's office who allegedly knew who shot Kandrisch. Marek received another tip from a customs officer regarding Lechner. He recently fled a drug control and found 100 kilograms of hashish in the truck. The message had been withheld by customs for tactical reasons, perhaps because of that Lechner had to die. In the evening, Berntner meets with the caller, the fussy Lizzy. She is after the reward and tells Berntner that the pimp shot Jimmy Novak Kandrisch and where the police can find him. Meanwhile, Marek learns from the director of the Grand Hotel that Mrs. Kandrisch had spent the night in his house on the night of the murder. Wirz and Berntner go to Jimmy's hiding place, as the private detective Zinkl unintentionally distracts the officers, so Jimmy can catch Wirz and Berntner and disarm them. Jimmy denies the murder and asks officers about their whistleblower. Wirz bluffs Jimmy with allegedly found fingerprints and finally with allegedly joining colleagues, whereupon Wirz and Berntner overpower and arrest Jimmy. Meanwhile, Marek receives decisive information that Jimmy was the perpetrator from his former colleague, who was also posted to the Grand Hotel to protect state guests during the murder on his last day at work.

However, Jimmy was released by the examining magistrate for lack of sufficient suspicion and went into hiding again. Meanwhile, Marek explains to Wirz that the drug shipment that customs confiscated actually led to the two murders. Marek fears that Jimmy will also be killed now. Meanwhile, Radek meets with Jimmy, who demands money from him to escape. Jimmy reminds Radek that he took the cash from Kandrisch after he was murdered. Marek and his team storm the Hotel Winkler with reinforcements and meet Dr. Berghof and Jimmy, Radek has disappeared. Berghof indicates that Jimmy is his client and is cooperative. Radek can be arrested when he tries to leave the hotel through the back door. Marek explains to those present that he has found Jimmy as the murderer and Radek as the client. Radek had high gambling debts in the underworld, which he had to settle, which is why he had arranged the drug smuggling with Lechner. Since his goods were stopped by customs, which Radek knew nothing about and the hotel had rented the room booked on Lechner to Kandrisch, Jimmy mistakenly killed Kandrisch instead of Lechner, as Jimmy only knew the room number of his victim. The next day, after realizing his mistake, he also killed Lechner after he had turned up in Vienna without his truck. Jimmy was supposed to dispose of Kandrisch's body in the scrapyard, where Lechner was found. However, since all cars in the vicinity of the Grand Hotel were carefully checked because of the high-ranking state guests, Jimmy drove his car into the underground car park, which was unattended due to illness and was able to take the elevator up to the swimming pool and deposit the body there. he was then able to dispose of Lechner's corpse as planned the next day. The garage manager of the grand hotel had been able to provide an exact description of Jimmy's person. Radek and Jimmy are both arrested.
