This time Marek is dealing with the murder of a stranger, with the illegal arms trade and corruption within the Vienna police force.

action

In the Vienna subway, a dead man who was stabbed to death is found after a soccer game in the midst of drunk and rampaging soccer fans. Chief Inspector Glauber, who has taken over the post of the recently retired Marek, wants to hand the case over to the security office as soon as possible and refuses to let his team solve the murder. District inspector Wirz, the reaction of his new boss seems strange, because he wanted to take on another case about a certain Claudius. The soccer fans from the subway are all arrested. A Bulgarian passport was found on the dead, Berntner comes with the help of a football fan on Felix Masopust, who is said to be xenophobic. A membership card of a neo-Nazi organization and an empty dagger sheath are found near Masopust. Masopust protests his innocence, his dagger was stolen from him in the crowd, but is arrested on the basis of the circumstantial evidence. Wirz finds out that the dead person was not registered in Vienna. Felix's mother is a neighbor of the retired Marek and turns to him in desperation. She also tells him that her son got caught up in neo-Nazi circles, Marek promises to help her.

Shortly afterwards, his old companion, District Inspector Wirz, shows him up and tells him about the case and the strange behavior of his new boss. The dead man had a plane ticket to Venezuela with him. Marek lets Wirz know that he thinks his neighbor boy is innocent and suggests that the two of them solve the case together. Marek has the feeling that the passport of the dead Bulgarian is forged and gives Wirz evidence of a passport forger who might know more. Wirz looks for the man and a prostitute who works for him, they say that a red-haired woman picked up the passport. Glauber is unimpressed by Wirz 'and Marek's findings and wants to continue to hand the case over to the security office without continuing the investigation. Marek visits his old colleagues and suspects that the deceased had recently changed his appearance and was therefore not identified by anyone. Shortly afterwards, Marek calls Glauber with a disguised voice and, acting as a councilor, orders that Glauber and his team should continue to work on the case. The officers have the dead man's beard removed and put another photo in the newspaper, his wife Erni Sassel and the dead man's lawyer, Dr. Berghof recognize his photo in the newspaper, both assumed that the deceased had long been in Caracas. Dr. Berghof advises Erni Sassel to go to the police immediately, her husband's business with Dr. Berghof shouldn't mention them.

At this moment, Wirz and Berntner seek out Erni Sassel, as they have already been able to clarify the dead person's identity. Dr. Berghof, known to officials as an underworld attorney, claims to be with Ms. Sassel on a rental matter. Berntner recognizes Erni Sassel as one of the subway passengers who were in the car in which her husband was murdered, she denies this and also refuses to come to the station, Dr. Berghof helps her. When the officers leave, Dr. Berghof her to flee. Wirz and Berntner wait in front of the house and follow Dr. Berghof, who drives to Claudius' villa, against whom her superior Glauber is investigating. Dr. Berghof and Claudius agree that Erni Sassel has to leave before the police can interrogate them because they know too much. Shortly thereafter, Erni Sassel is dead, it looks like she poisoned herself with potassium cyanide, Wirz doubts the suicide. Next to the corpse is a written confession that she allegedly killed her husband out of jealousy. Wirz talks to Marek about the case; it puzzles him that Erni Sassels did not mention anything about her motive for suicide in her self-accusation. He continues to tell Marek about the meeting with Dr. Berghof and that he has contact with Claudius. Claudius employs several servants from the Viennese underworld. Since Wirz is under the supervision of Glauber, Marek visits Claudius and pretends to be an active police officer. But Claudius knows that Marek is retired and invites him to talk to him anyway. Marek knows that Claudius is involved in illegal arms deals and tells him that. Claudius threatens Marek that something could happen to Marek if he is too curious. He wants to bribe Marek and admits to bribing Glauber too.

Marek speaks to Claudius about the death of Erni Sassel and confronts him with the fact that he wanted to send her husband to Caracas, Claudius denies this. Marek concludes that Erni Sassel could have killed her husband out of jealousy, and that this murder thwarted Claudius' plans. Marek accuses Claudius that his chauffeur was seen walking into her house shortly before Erni Sassel's death, and that she probably forced her to write her confession. Claudius is unmoved that his chauffeur has an alibi. Claudius says goodbye and is killed by a car bomb in front of Marek. Marek immediately suspects that Claudius was killed by a competitor. In the meantime, Glauber has been suspended from duty for accepting forbidden gifts, and Wirz is now provisional head of the commissariat. Wirz is now supposed to find the weapons that Claudius is keeping hidden for his trade. Marek advises Wirz to question one of Claudius' accomplices, Schimeczek. The officials suspect that Schimeczek will not confess so quickly, so Marek suggests that Wirz arrest Marek and put him in Schimeczek's cell. The plan works and the officers dig a large weapons depot. Dr. Berghof appears and, on behalf of his client, Claudius's competitor, demands the surrender of the weapons, but Wirz makes it clear to him that the weapons have been confiscated. Dr. Berghof flatters Wirz by providing him with evidence that Claudius' chauffeur, who was killed with him in the car bomb, was in fact Erni Sassel's murderer.
