Peter Janisch

Peter Janisch (born December 20, 1924 in Vienna ; † August 17, 2015 in Vienna) was an Austrian actor, director and artistic director .

Peter Janisch was festival director in Lower Austria for 42 years, founder and director of the “ Raimund Festival Gutenstein ” and the “Komödienspiele Weißenkirchen ” (today: “Wachaufestspiele Weißenkirchen”) and director of the “Sommerspiele Melk ”, and for 37 years director of the Vienna Ateliertheater. The discoverer of numerous actors who are successful throughout the German-speaking region also gave acting lessons.

Janisch was married and lived with his wife Mila in Vienna. The chamber actor Michael Janisch , who died in 2004, was his brother.
