Hansi Waldherr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans "Hansi" Waldherr (born February 8, 1921 in Budapest as Hans Walter von Waldherr ) is a former catcher (wrestler, wrestler) and actor , with a subscription to rogue and bully roles in film and television.

Career as a wrestler

Waldherr grew up in Vienna and began his career as a catcher after the war. Soon he had made a name for himself in relevant circles under the signature 'Strangler von Wien'. In the period from 1951 to 1966, there are 568 Waldherr wrestling matches, of which he won 250, lost 188 and drew 125.

Acting career

After the end of his wrestling career, Waldherr decided to switch to acting, took lessons and played theater: guest appearances took him to Wuppertal , Bad Godesberg , Bremen and Essen . This was also followed by cinema offers. In front of the camera, the powerful, but sometimes a little sedate-looking mimes were often played dumb powerhouses, idiotic crooks and thugs (as in some Jerry Cotton strips), repeatedly with a stab of comedy (as in Ein Käfer Full throttle ).

Waldherr's physical presence and his sense of weird humor made him a popular person of high recognition value in the late 1960s and early 1970s : He was repeatedly seen not only as a guest in a number of series and individual productions (e.g. Der Forellenhof , The television court is in session , Percy Stuart , country doctor Dr. Brock , Der große Schwindel , private detective Frank Kross ) of German television, but also in popular entertainment shows ( Rudi Carrell Show , Peter Alexander Show ), in which he parodied and ironicized his own role typification. In the early 1960s he played a supporting role at Günter Pfitzmann's side in the crime series " Gestatten, mein Name ist Cox " in the episode: Das Mörderhaus. Location: Hamburg-Wandsbek.

Hansi Waldherr later knew how to use his powerful appearance effectively in open-air theater; for example, he appeared in the early 1970s as part of the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg . At the beginning of the 1990s he withdrew into private life.
