Dickie Dick Dickens
Dickie Dick Dickens is a humorous radio play series by Rolf and Alexandra Becker , the individual episodes of which developed into so-called street sweepers at the time of broadcast . The criminal satire was produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk and Radio Bremen as well as by Schweizer Rundfunk in their own versions. After the radio play series, the books for the individual seasons were created. Radio Bremen produced the first 12 new episodes in 2008/2009.
Authors
In addition to the “Dickie Dick Dickens” novels, Alexandra and Rolf Becker also published other successful crime novels such as “ Gestatten, mein Name ist Cox ” (implemented as a radio play and also filmed). The team of authors wrote television history with scripts for the first German family series “ Familie Schölermann ” (1954–1960). They also worked on the scripts of the crime series " Graf Yoster gives himself the honor " (1967–1976).
content
The story takes place in Chicago in the golden 1920s . Dickie Dick Dickens, a trained pickpocket, most dangerous man Chicago ever made, with a heart of gold and eyes of steel, spent 68% of his life in freedom and 32% in prison. The adventures revolve around Dickie, his girlfriend Effi Marconi, and Dickie's unintentional rise from honest pickpocket to Chicago gang boss. He gets to do with the well-known gang boss Jim Cooper, who is also called "Jim the stubborn" in specialist circles. For a long time he was the king of the underworld - until he ran into Dickie Dick Dickens and - threatened by him with a pistol - swore by his name that he would leave the banana-selling district of Chicago to him. Dickie Dick Dickens wrote the stories down in 1939 in Sing Sing prison in his memoirs, which were translated into 14 languages. In it, he describes each of his adventures with a special final comment.

Short series of the Bavarian Radio from 1976
In 1976, the BR again put on a short series with six one-hour episodes. The first broadcasts took place between March 25 and April 29, 1976. In these, Dickie Dick Dickens is now an elderly gentleman, released from Sing Sing or fled and lives in Europe with his long-term fiancé Effi Marconi. He discovers that he has an adult son named Donald D. Doberman, who is kidnapped. Several adventures follow one another until everyone has what they deserve. The adventures take place mainly in the Mediterranean area (Tangier, Malta, Italy, Greece), where Dickens meets all sorts of strange people, an Italian count, an equally Italian police superintendent, a stingy multi-billionaire from America, a Greek shipowner and his frustrated right-hand man, the "port slavers of Tangier" and so on.
