Peter M. Preissler
Peter M. Preissler (born March 22, 1943 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director , actor and author .
Life
From 1957 to 1960 Preissler learned to play trumpet and piano at the Prayner Conservatory in Vienna. From 1962 he studied theater studies, musicology and psychology at the University of Vienna. In 1964 he studied acting and directing at the Krauss drama school in Vienna. From 1965 to 1970 Preissler worked as an actor and assistant director at the Vienna Burgtheater . He then worked until 1974 as a director, actor and dramaturge at the State Theater in Hanover . 1972 Preissler received his doctorate as Dr. phil. As a guest director, Preissler presented productions at the Volkstheater Vienna and the Schauspielhaus Graz in 1974 .
From 1974 to 1981 he worked as an editor and director at Bayerischer Rundfunk . During the same period he was also responsible for guest productions, for example at the Volkstheater Vienna, the Stadttheater St. Gallen and the Landesbühne Salzburg . From 1981 to 1987 Preissler was the director of the Vienna Volkstheater. He also received guest contracts at the Burgtheater in Vienna, at the Heilbronn City Theater and as senior director at the Salzburg State Theater under the artistic director Federik Mirdita . He has worked as a freelance director since 1988 and has staged at the Volkstheater Vienna, the Theater in der Josefstadt , the State Theater Karlsruhe , the Landestheater Linz and the Renaissance Theater Berlin.
Preissler was a visiting professor at the Reinhardt Seminar several times . In 1999 he was given the professional title of Professor .
Private
Peter M. Preissler is married to Susann B. Winter . The two have three children together.
