Alain Franck (* 1927 in Paris ; † March 21, 2014 in Provins , Seine-et-Marne ) was a French (screenwriter) writer and director . His stage name was Franck Legris ( nom de plume ).

Life

Franck was a bookseller and journalist before becoming one of the most successful crime writers on French radio and television. He wrote more than 30 pieces for radio and wrote numerous scripts for feature films. Franck also worked as a director and producer for feature films and TV series and worked as a translator. In 1974 he received the Prix Italia for his television play Josse . In addition, Franck wrote children's books, police novels and plays.

Radio plays

Franck's radio plays are often exciting and open up deep insights into human coexistence. The Südwestdeutsche Rundfunk produced numerous of its radio play crime novels. As with many French crime writers, Franck does not focus on the crime and the circumstances surrounding it, but on the people who were directly or indirectly involved. In his work he avoids the classic stylistic devices of a crime novel, such as chases, killing scenes and investigative work. Rather, his thrillers are psychological analyzes of developmental contexts that precede the crime and often take astonishing turns and provide insights. His characters are drawn in depth and differentiated. In doing so, Franck tries to trace the deliberate or accidental contradictions and to depict the social and individual constraints. His radio plays also contain echoes of French society and its conventions. As contributions to the series Les Maîtres du Mystère , Les Auditeurs mènent l'enquête and Détectives en pantoufles , his radio plays were broadcast in France on the radio a. a. broadcast on France Inter . His radio plays were translated into German by Maria Frey.
