Herbert Bötticher

Herbert Bötticher (born December 19, 1928 in Hanover ; † October 8, 2008 in Düsseldorf ) was a German actor and director .

Life

Herbert Bötticher grew up as the son of a conductor in Hanover and attended the Luther high school there . After graduating from high school, he trained as an actor from 1948 to 1950 at the Hanover Drama School. He received his first theater engagement in 1950 at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , from 1954 he played at the Theater Bielefeld , 1957 at the Theater am Rossmarkt in Frankfurt am Main and in 1958 at the comedy in the Marquardt in Stuttgart . In the same year he moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele , where he was part of the ensemble for ten years . He then worked as a freelance actor and made guest appearances in 1973 as Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady in Frankfurt. He has also directed several times , including at the Koblenz Theater , the Komödie im Bayerischer Hof in Munich and the Hamburger Kammerspiele .

Herbert Bötticher has been intensively involved with the art of magic since his early youth. He published articles in magazines and occasionally appeared at magic events.

In 1987, he and his wife, actress Doris Gallart , hosted the ZDF program You Won't Believe It ... , which featured excerpts from performances by Siegfried & Roy , David Copperfield , Mark Wilson and other magicians.

Since 1960 Bötticher has worked extensively as an actor in film and television. His range included stage adaptations such as Hamlet , The Twelve Jurors or Biedermann and the Arsonists , but also thrillers such as Derrick or Hooper's Last Hunt , a television game about the British mail robbers in the 1960s. He showed his comedic talent, often provided with a purposeful lack of conception or nervousness, in comedies such as The World Is Still Alright According to Eric Malpass , in the award-winning production Lina Braake , in family series such as I will marry a family and in satires such as Pull out the plug, the water is boiling by Ephraim Kishon . In the 1960s, he was often seen in television games .

Bötticher often lent his voice to radio plays and dubbing . From 1961 to 1969 he taught at the Falckenberg School in Munich. His last directorial work was the comedy Süßer die Glocken in the Theater am Dom in Cologne in the 2005/2006 season.

Herbert Bötticher's voice could also be heard on the radio (in 302 radio plays), including all 150 episodes in the radio play series Wumme as the single father of the heroine.

Bötticher last lived in Munich in the Schwabing district . He was married to actress Doris Gallart, but the couple lived separately. He was found dead on October 8, 2008 in his hotel room in Düsseldorf, where he had succumbed to a heart condition. He was buried in the Lahe city cemetery in his hometown of Hanover. His last project was the musical Gigi at the Düsseldorf Theater an der Kö , in which he wanted to direct and take on the leading role. At the express request of his widow, work on the production was continued.
