Johannes Grossmann (actor)

Johannes Grossmann (born March 3, 1928 in Breslau ; † July 31, 2014 in Gummersbach ) was a German actor in film and television. He played in several films, including The Star of Africa , Factory of the Officers and The Transport . However, he was best known for his role as Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Himmel in the TV series Stadtklinik in the early 1990s .

life and career

Johannes Grossmann, born in Breslau in 1931, began his television career in 1957 under the direction of Frank Lothar in the TV drama Viktoria . Over the decades, many other roles in television films followed, such as The Winslow Case (1961), Michael Kramer (1965), The Seven Slaps (1971), Gladiators (1972), Restlessness (1980) or The Last Guest (1989). In the television miniseries A Man Called Harry Brent , he played the role of Filey in two episodes in 1968. Between 1957 and 1996 Grossmann also played numerous television roles in well-known German series such as Die Fifth Kolonne , The Strange Methods of Franz Josef Wanninger , Hamburg Transit , Butler Parker , Graf Yoster , MS Franziska , Die Drombuschs , Großstadtrevier or Der Fahnder . He also made several appearances in the Tatort series between 1980 and 1985. He played a more complex TV role as Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Himmel from 1993 to 1996 in 75 episodes of the television series Stadtklinik .

Only at the beginning of his acting career was seen on the screen in a few selected roles, including in Alfred Weidenmann's war drama Der Stern von Afrika in the role of NCO Weiss, in Frank Wisbar's award-winning cinema production Factory of Officers as Ensign Hochbauer or as Schramm in the war film The transport .

Grossmann, who was married to colleague Katinka Hoffmann , died on July 31, 2014 at the age of 86 in Gummersbach as a result of a stroke. Since 1975 he has been married to his colleague Rotraut Rieger , with whom he has also appeared in many productions.

He had a daughter from his first marriage to his then wife Katinka Hoffmann .

His grave is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 34).
