Gitty Djamal
Gitty Djamal , also Gitty Darugar or Gitty Daruga (born May 11, 1936 in Tehran , Iran ) is an Iranian-German former actress who has worked as a photographer since 1984 .
Life
Gitty Darugar was born in Tehran, where she grew up. She attended schools in several countries, such as Devonshire ( England ), Geneva and Paris , as well as the École des Beaux-Arts in Nice and the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . She performed in the Schlossparktheater , the Schiller Theater and other Berlin theaters. The film Stage Fright by Kurt Hoffmann , with Gustav Knuth , Henry Vahl and Elke Sommer, was one of her first films. She became known to the television audience in 1968 as Lona Doria in the ARD television series Salto Mortale .
After a stage with Sven Nykvist , she has been working as a professional photographer since 1984 under her maiden name Gitty Darugar (focus: portraits, architectural photography). Her works have been published in several solo and group exhibitions, book publications and in magazines. Gitty Darugar lives and works in Switzerland.

Photos by Darugar are or were in the collections of Helmut Gersheim in Lugano, the Swiss Foundation for Photography, the Center Georges Pompidou and the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris. In addition, there were several exhibitions in the Galerie d'Architecture (Paris 2000), at the Kunstverein Ludwigsburg (2002), the Cantonal Library of Lugano (2010), in the Galerie Doria (2010/2011), and other exhibitions.
