content

The "Moselbrück" winery, which has been owned by the Zerfass family for three centuries and produces wines of high quality, is suffering from the increasing demand for cheap sweet wines. The owner Roland Zerfass dies unexpectedly and leaves his widow Hanna with a highly indebted company. She seems overwhelmed with it, although her son Gunther and stepson Martin are actively at hand. When the banks refuse to grant further loans, the wine merchant Ludwig, the brother of the deceased, demands his loan of 80,000 marks back in the hope that Hanna will have to sell "Moselbrück" to him.
